Building Equitable Systems for Black Women to Prosper

The Systems Change Lab identifies systemic barriers, develops evidence-based solutions, and partners with institutions to create measurable, sustainable change for Black women.

We transform policies, practices, leadership pathways, economic opportunities, and decision-making systems across institutions, employers, governments, and communities.

Lab Overview

Moving Beyond Awareness. Building Sustainable Change.

Many organizations recognize the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion. However, meaningful transformation requires more than commitments, statements, or one-time initiatives.

It requires examining the systems, structures, policies, practices, and decision-making processes that determine who has access to opportunities, leadership, resources, and influence.

The Systems Change Lab identifies systemic barriers, designs evidence-based solutions, and partners with institutions to create measurable and sustainable change for Black women.

From Evidence To Transformation

The Lab brings diverse expertise together to transform systems and create measurable institutional impact

Our Vision

A Canada where institutions are intentionally designed to recognize talent, eliminate barriers, and create equitable opportunities for Black women to lead, innovate, and prosper.

Our Mission

The Systems Change Lab works with organizations and decision-makers to:

Why It Matters

Changing Conditions That Shape Outcomes and Opportunity

Individual empowerment is essential-but individual success alone cannot overcome systems that create unequal access to opportunity. A talented professional may still face barriers because of recruitment practices, promotion structures, workplace culture, limited sponsorship, procurement systems, leadership pipelines, access to networks, and technology design decisions. The Systems Change Lab focuses on changing the conditions that shape outcomes.

How do we prepare Black women for existing systems?
How do we transform systems so that Black women can fully participate and succeed?

Our Approach

The Systems Transformation Framework

The Lab follows five stages to understand barriers, develop solutions, support transformation, and measure sustainable change.

Diagnose

We assess policies, practices, data, organizational culture, representation, and the experiences of employees and communities.

Analyze

We examine root causes, structural barriers, opportunity gaps, and institutional practices to turn evidence into meaningful insights.

Design

We develop strategies, toolkits, policies, training, and action plans that create inclusive solutions and address identified systemic barriers.

Implement

We partner with institutions to execute solutions, build capacity, strengthen organizational practices, and measure progress.

Measure

We evaluate outcomes, representation, impact, and accountability to track progress and determine whether meaningful change is sustainable.
